FAQ

HEADSHOTS & BRANDING FAQ

How much do headshots cost in Denver?

Headshot pricing varies depending on the length of the session, number of images included and whether you're photographing an individual or an entire team. Headshot collections begin at $250, with expanded portrait and branding options available for clients who desire additional images, locations or variety.

You can view current offerings and pricing on my Headshot Pricing page or contact me for a customized recommendation.

What should I wear for headshots?

The best headshot wardrobe selections make you feel confident, comfortable and like you. Solid colors, simple layers and well-fitting clothing tend to photograph beautifully. I recommend avoiding distracting logos, busy patterns and anything that doesn't feel authentic to how you typically present yourself.

How many images will I receive?

The number of images you receive depends on the collection you choose. Some clients need a single standout headshot, while others prefer a larger gallery of branding images for websites, marketing materials and social media. Additional images and full-gallery options are available if your desire more variety.

How long does a headshot session take?

Most headshot sessions last between 20 and 60 minutes depending on the collection selected. Personal branding sessions are typically longer, allowing time for multiple outfits, locations and a wider variety of images. We'll choose the session length that best supports your goals.

Can you help me choose locations?

Absolutely. The right location depends on how you'd like to be seen and where your images will be used. Some clients prefer a clean studio environment, while others choose an office, upscale urban setting or meaningful workspace. I'll help you select a location that aligns with your personality, profession and brand.

What's the difference between headshots and branding photography?

Headshots are focused portraits designed to show who you are. They're commonly used for LinkedIn profiles, websites, speaking engagements and professional marketing.

Branding photography goes a step further by telling the story behind your work and often include environmental portraits, lifestyle imagery, details of your workspace and photographs that showcase your personality, process, expertise and brand.

Can I use these photos on LinkedIn?

Absolutely. Professional headshots are ideal for LinkedIn profiles, company websites, speaker bios, social media and marketing materials. Many clients book sessions specifically to update their online presence and create a strong first impression.

Do you photograph therapists and private practices?

Yes. I frequently work with therapists and mental health professionals who want imagery that feels warm, approachable and trustworthy. Sessions can include professional headshots, branding portraits and photographs of your office environment to help potential clients feel connected before they ever walk through the door.

Do you photograph entrepreneurs and small business owners?

Yes. Many of my branding clients are entrepreneurs, consultants, creatives and small business owners. Together we create a gallery of images that can be used across websites, social media, marketing materials and professional profiles.

Can I purchase additional images?

Yes. Additional images, image bundles and full-gallery upgrades are available.

Where do headshot and branding sessions take place in Denver?

Some clients prefer a clean professional studio setting, while others choose an office, outdoor upscale urban location, coffee shop, creative workspace or another environment that reflects their personality and work.

What should I bring to a headshot or branding session?

For headshot sessions, I recommend bringing a few outfit options that make you feel confident, comfortable and professional. For branding sessions, think beyond clothing. You may also want to bring items that help tell the story of your work, such as a laptop, notebook, camera, products, tools, books or anything else that reflects your business and personality.

MOTHERHOOD, MATERNITY & NEWBORN FAQ

When should I schedule my maternity photos?

Most maternity sessions take place between 28 and 34 weeks, when your baby bump is beautifully visible but you're still feeling relatively comfortable. Every pregnancy is different, so we'll choose timing that feels right for you.

When should I book my maternity session?

I recommend booking your maternity session during your second trimester whenever possible. This helps ensure availability and gives us plenty of time to plan wardrobe, location and overall session vision.

Can my partner and children be included?

Absolutely. Maternity sessions can include partners, children and pets. These photographs are about more than pregnancy. They're about the relationships and connections that already exist as your family grows.

What should I wear for my maternity session?

The most important thing is choosing clothing that feels beautiful, comfortable and true to you. Flowing dresses, fitted silhouettes and soft textures tend to photograph beautifully. Once you're booked, I'll provide guidance to help you select wardrobe options that photograph well and fit your vision.

Do you offer studio maternity photography?

Yes. Studio maternity sessions offer a clean, timeless look with beautiful natural light and minimal distractions. They're a wonderful option for families seeking a simple and classic aesthetic.

Do you offer outdoor maternity sessions?

Yes. Outdoor maternity sessions are available throughout Denver, Boulder and surrounding areas. Many families love the natural beauty, variety and relaxed atmosphere that outdoor locations provide.

When should newborn photos be taken?

Newborn sessions are typically photographed within the first two weeks after birth, but beautiful newborn images can be created well beyond that window. My approach is lifestyle-focused, allowing flexibility based on your baby's arrival and your family's needs.

When should I book my newborn session?

Most families reserve their newborn session during pregnancy. This allows me to plan availability around your due date while maintaining flexibility for your baby's actual arrival.

What if my baby arrives early or late?

No worries at all. Once your baby arrives, we'll finalize your session date. Newborns rarely arrive exactly on schedule, so I build flexibility into my calendar for this reason.

What is lifestyle newborn photography?

Lifestyle newborn photography focuses on connection, emotion and storytelling rather than elaborate posing. Sessions are relaxed and baby-led, documenting your family naturally in your home or a carefully selected studio environment.

Do newborn sessions take place in my home?

Many families choose in-home newborn photography because it allows us to document this season where it is naturally unfolding. Studio newborn sessions are also available for those who prefer a dedicated photography space.

What if my home doesn't have a lot of natural light?

Don't worry. Most homes have more usable light than people realize. Before your session, I'll help identify the best spaces, and I can create beautiful images in a variety of lighting situations.

Can siblings participate?

Absolutely. Siblings are always welcome and encouraged to participate. Some of the most meaningful photographs from a newborn session are often the interactions between a new baby and their older brothers or sisters.

What should parents wear for a newborn session?

I recommend neutral, comfortable clothing with minimal patterns and logos. Soft tones photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on connection, emotion and your new baby.

How long does a newborn session take?

Newborn sessions are intentionally relaxed and baby-led. Most last between one and two hours, allowing time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes and plenty of snuggles along the way.

When is the best time to photograph newborns?

I aim to photograph Denver and Boulder newborns 7-14 days after delivery but have photographed studio and lifestyle newborn sessions with babies up to five weeks old.

How do we reserve a newborn photo session date as we're unsure of when the baby will arrive?

Your payment reserves a tentative date, reach out via email or text once your little one arrives to solidify your session date.

What does a studio newborn session look like?

This style newborn session is very hands on from a photographer’s perspective. Mom and dad can relax as baby is styled in wraps, hats/headbands to accentuate their newborn sweetness!

Do you provide props for our newborn session?

I offer a lovely collection of neutral and gender specific wraps, hats and headbands for studio sessions. These items may be added on to lifestyle sessions for a fee.

If there are any personal items that you’d like to incorporate into your Denver newborn photo session, I’d be happy to photograph them, but don’t worry about finding something particular if nothing comes to mind. I find that timeless, classic lifestyle images are best captured with less ‘stuff’ and I will have a variety of neutral swaddles, headbands and hats to offer during our sessions.

What rooms in our home will you use to photograph our family during lifestyle sessions?

Documenting you and your newborn family in the comfort of your Denver or Boulder area home in natural light is timeless and is endlessly personal. I look for the areas in your home that offer the best light and typically aim to shoot in your nursery and master bedroom perhaps even capturing big brother/sister showing off their room.

While Denver lifestyle newborn sessions do capture a variety of solo baby shots, this style places emphasis on interaction with family members. I’m open to offering as much or as little posing guidance and instruction as you’d like. Let me know what feels right for you and your newborn family!

I have no idea what to wear. Ideas?

I have all the wardrobe ideas, if you’d like to be paired with a stylist to curate an outfit just for you, I’d be honored to connect you!

I prefer texture (lace, velvet, etc.) and bold colors with limited prints, logos, brand names, etc. for a more on-trend style. I adore long dresses as they offer such flow and sense of whimsy and drama in your images.

I typically advocate that outfits complement each other with variety in color and style as opposed to matching perfectly in the same color polo or t-shirt. I love boho hats on women. I recently entered a photo contest and I think I voted for every photo where mom wore a gorgeous dress and an awesome hat.

How do you help people feel comfortable during a photo session?

Many people tell me they're nervous before their session. The good news? Feeling awkward in front of the camera is completely normal, and it's my job to guide you through it.

Rather than expecting you to know exactly what to do, I'll offer gentle direction throughout the session while leaving plenty of room for natural interaction and genuine expression. We'll talk, move, laugh and adjust as we go. My goal isn't to create perfectly posed photographs. It's to create images that feel like you.

Whether we're creating maternity photos or newborn images, I focus on building trust first. When people feel comfortable, the photographs naturally follow.

Do you offer custom packages for Denver and Boulder area maternity and newborn sessions and/or baby’s first year?

Yes! If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for in the investment information, I’m happy to build a discounted multiple session package that suits your family.

What timeframe do you suggest for outdoor sessions?

Anything you see on my Denver maternity photographer website, posted to social media, all the images (100%) were taken at sunset. Scheduling your session at the right time of day is the biggest impact on your images. Shooting sessions in the mountains outside of sunset timeframe is not available.

What kind of payment plans do you offer?

Payment plans are available with 60% due at booking. Single sessions do require payment in full, prior to the session. I also accept credit cards.
